WHAT TO EXPECT
How long does it take?
Custom art can take anywhere between 1 weeks to 2 months to create, depending on the size. I will communicate with you about the expected timeline before beginning. If you need the piece completed by a certain date, please let me know.
Is the work framed?
Oil painting
The prices listed above are for unframed work. The oil paintings are on wood panels 1.5" thick and do not require framing. I can frame the works on paper for an additional fee. If you choose to frame the work yourself, the sizes I offer are all common dimensions for frames.
FORMATS
Watercolour and graphite
Halfway between a drawing and a painting, these works are made on watercolour paper with a 1" margin in addition to the image size. This medium is suitable for all subjects, but I recommend it for pet portraits in particular. The image of the dog above is watercolour and graphite.
Woodcut print edition
Painted on gallery wood panels, these paintings do not need to be framed. Revisions are possible for an additional fee. Oil paintings are recommended for landscapes and houses.
Maps
You will receive an edition of 10 prints. Each print is an original hand-made artwork, not a reproduction. The number of prints in the edition is negotiable. I recommend this format if you want to share your custom artwork between multiple people. For example, you might commission an image of your family home or a cherished family photograph. Each family member could receive an original print.
The prints are made on conservation-grade Japanese paper with a 1" margin in addition to the image size. Included in the price is one round of reviews where you can request changes to the proposed image.
I also offer custom hand-drawn maps. The scope of cartography projects can vary dramatically, so I have no listed prices. If you are interested in commissioning a map, please contact me. We will discuss your needs and budget. I'll then draft a proposal including a price and revision schedule.
You will send me 2-6 photos of your subject (house, pet, landscape, etc.) I'll choose the image that is best suited to the medium. For woodcut print editions, I'll send you a proposed image for review before I begin carving.

30% of the price is due before the work begins as a non-refundable deposit.
