This print is part of a series of small studies. My intention was to get back to basics and experiment with how best to depict my subject (the forest) in my medium (woodcut printmaking); to try lines and textures and compositions in a small format where the risks were low and the focus narrow and clear. This is a reduction woodcut print, which means that the two colours were carved and printed successively from the same block.
